Ferry or Plane from Palermo, Sicily to Valletta, Malta

Hello.

I would like to go from Palermo to Valletta during the month of May. I am seeing ferries from Polazzo and Catania and flights from Catania to Valletta. Anyone know if it's possible to do the same from Palermo?

Thanks in advance.

here you are - another occasion when google is your friend.

I put in "european ferries" and up popped this website.

you can do this too! [but to be fair, i knew it was there as I'd done it before].

Hi annhig.

Thanks for responding. I tried the same link as you before posting my message to Fodor's but it came up saying that there were no further sailings for that particular route.

well, you're right. that's what comes up. i could say that it was a pity that you didn't add the link and that info to your original post, but I will refrain.

what i will say is that the above link takes you through to various other possibilities; you might also try contacting the maltese tourist board to see if they are aware of any other carriers.

but if the boat doesn't run, the boat doesn't run!

I'd suggest looking on the website for Malta Airport and seeing which airlines fly into Malta. Then check each one to see if they fly to Palermo. Have you looked at Air Malta, we flew with them to Catania, a quick 25 min flight. Pity our luggage went on to London. Valletta is a wonderful place, oozing history and with some wonderful views, particularly the Grand Harbour.

I'm Maltese, and I'm sure you'll get a warm welcome here. You have the options to fly from Trapani (approx 100km from Palermo, I believe there's a bus) with Ryanair. These are a low cost carrier so expect to be charged to breathe! http://www.ryanair.com/mt

National carrier airmalta used to fly to Palermo until recently, was surprised they aren't flying there anymore, perhaps you can get in touch at www.airmalta.com
