broadway musical suggestions for my teenager

I am taking my daughter to NYC. We are planning on seeing a musical a day and possibly 2 on saturday. I just booked Wicked. Any suggestions for others....we like upbeat, lots of dancing and singing. No drama. She is a singer, piano player and danced...she is so excited and I want this to be an awesome long weekend for her. Love to know other great musicals to purchase tickets for. And reasonable hotels to consider in or near Times Square. Thanks in advance!

What do you want to pay for a room, reasonable means different things to different people. And when is this trip, that makes a difference in hotel prices.

I strongly recommend Anything Goes. We took a 10-year-old who had never been to Broadway; she was thrilled.

If she's a big fan of Wicked she would enjoy the Behind the Emerald Curtain tour

I concur with Judyrem's three show recommendations. Also, How to Succeed in Business, which will star one of the Jonas brothers starting this Tuesday. Discount tickets are available for all four shows. Check out broadwaybox.com and playbill.com for the offers.

We're staying at the Hilton Garden Inn 63 w 35th for $126/night with a great view of the empire state building (room 2406), only 7 short blocks up broadway to times square.

Fantasticks has been running for about 30 years and I think most everybody in the world has seen it as least once. (One of Jerry Orbach;s - late of the Law * Order series - first roles was as the young man in Fantastiks.) It is charming, but very simple. Nothing like the other shows.

If she is seriously into dance you might check what other optins are available when you will bee her - ballet or modern dance or ???

Spiderman!!! I love "The Fantasticks" -- but it has no dance numbers.

If dancing is such an important element, then definitely do Anything Goes.

Over the years I've seen quite a few musicals with my now 21 year old daughter. Her favorites were Mamma Mia and Wicked. Is Lion King still playing? That's another good one.

PS: Don't underestimate the dancing in Chicago. If your daughter is serious about dance, then she'll love it!

Agree that for dancing Chicago is classic - as long as you're not one of the few who don;t like Fosse.

Have a look at the seven-and-a-half-minute first act finale of the title song, filmed somewhat unskillfully (and probably illegally) during a live performance of Anything Goes: http://youtu.be/IlCZutwVlzQ

Absolutely thrilling!

I took my other daughter to Chicago...LOVED IT! We had the best seats! It was fantastic. I would love to see one that I have not seen and so I put that one on the back shelf. I watched the suggested video...full of energy. That's one to definitely consider! Everyone has great ideas! Thx for your help. I have to find out more about How to Succeed....
Any comments on The Jersey Boys?

I don't think your daughter would enjoy The Jersey Boys as much as the other ones that have been recommended.
