Waikiki hotel question

Waikiki hotel question
I have narrowed my search down for the two nights we are in Waikiki before we go the the other islands. Right now I am looking at the Outrigger Reef. The Outrigger hotels offer a 50+ rate that seems pretty good. I am not as interested that we are near the beach but I would like a nice pool area and a balcony. We don't have to be in the center of all of the action. there are 3 of us traveling and our main purpose is for two in the party to visit Pearl Harbor and the other to enjoy a day or two at the pool and perhaps a spa. Can you advise me if this is a good choice? I was looking at smaller hotels such as Aqua bamboo but I just don't know enough about these hotels. I guess I should add that we would like to stay around 300.00 or under if possible. Thank you in advance!

I just noticed that I didn't put the other hotel down that I had narrowed it down to! duh.....Hilton ali'i tower and Outrigger Reef....I guess I should just say the Hilton because there are several towers. So between those two what would you recommend? The Aqua Bamboo just seems to small but if someone has stayed and can tell me more I would love to here!

I always liked staying at the Outrigger Reef - and even worked it so we had a view of Diamond head from the room - which I enjoyed while watching a baseball playoff game. 
There is a decent beach there (a lot of locals use it as there is parking nearby) - and you can walk both directions - toward the Hotels along the beach on Waikiki (Royal Hawaiian, etc)- or the other way - past Ft. DeRussey (sp) - to the big complex known as the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Super location.

Also - recommend you get up early one day and make it to Hanauma Bay - a beauituful cove with a reef for safe snorkeling - the best in the Islands and I have been all over. Go early before it gets crowded - and then you can relax in the afternoon at your pool. I really like the Outrigger Reef for a lot of reasons. It's the hotel I most often recommend for mid-priced Waikiki. It's a beautiful setting near Fort de Russy park and has a more open-air Hawaiian feel than lots of the others. I've never stayed there (a bit above my price range) but often eat in their restaurants, shop in their lobby stores (very nice selection), and gone to the spa (Serenity Spa). I don't think you can go wrong with that choice.

outrigger Reef is in a good location I stayed at the Waikiki Shore which is right next door to it. I did notice that some of the rooms were actually facing the side of the Waikiki Shore which would bum me out if I had those rooms. I would make certain that my room does not face the hotel next door to it. Starbucks is right outside their door if you are a SB addict.
