Annoyed by European traffic tickets? This might put them in perspective...
A British woman racked up 90,000 euro in traffic tickets in Florence.
Read all about it here:

I don't feel so hard done by, now.

I live in an area where there are many "foreign" cars being driven in the UK by non British but EU nationals. They all know that if the car is in another EU country for more than 6 months then it should be registered in the resident EU country. They also know that they should abide by the laws of their resident EU country.
It will be the case that his lady thought she could swan around Florence like a diplomat immune to prosecution. She will probably lose her car and deserves to do so....for stupidity. I feel for many of the unsuspecting tourists driving hire cars "on the wrong side of the road" whilst being pipped by many local drivers who want race round the outer streets of Florence. It is so easy to miss the tiny restricted zone signs and end up with a fine.
This lady doesn't fall into that category....anyone want a used Mercedes? One, not very careful owner.

True, about the diplomats in London who have created a legend in the way they abuse local traffic laws.
After driving around 30,000 miles a year around the north of England, I have yet to see a foreign plated Lamborghini ripping up the outside lane doing 150 miles an hour.
Most of my driving is up and down the M6 and I encounter many foreign plated French/Dutch/German cars. Most are causing chaos because they are driving at 45mph whilst listening to a waltz by Wolfgang Amadeus.

The British can collect fines due on French/German/Dutch and 14 other nationality cars since they have (somewhat surprisingly) signed a European agreement on this.
Italy hasn't signed - or they cold have got hold of this woman's details and fined her a lot earlier.
