good option for skiing over new year in europe

hi.. planning to go for a family skiing learning vacation over the new year. what would be a good place in europe- austria/switzerland/france...
we have to keep in mind the availability and prices .. since late in booking...
shall have a car , so dont need to be next to ski slope areas...
thanks

We go to Kaprun. It has a glacier - so even if snow is not good, you can ski.

It's beside Zell am See - but it's quieter and has a big new Spa for the days you don't ski.

It has a few nice little ski schools that we have put our little one in.

Considering the lack of snow this year I would definitely look for a glacier. I agree with Lawchick, Kaprun is a good choice for family skiing. If you want to be somewhat cheaper, try Molltaller Gletscher in Karnten.

Just keep in mind that in most known skiing places it will be very difficult to find rooms, and that many hotels/pensions etc require a 7 nights minimum over New Year, some have even an obligatory halfboard included in their price.
Good luck !!!
