Caravaning with children - Victoria
We have agreed as our first 'shake down' trip is to head south to the Land of Vic.
We will be on the road for four weeks and will stay in Albury/wodonga for a week (hints on family things to do would be great!) and then saddle up again and head to Ballarat to take in the Soverign Hill night show etc.
Please respond with other 'must sees' along this route - or any trip suggestions. ie: we have heard king Valley is great spot for a 'basic camp' and food and wine etc.....
looking forward to your posts.

The Bonegilla Migrant Museum is worth a look near Wodonga.
The Beechworth Gail is now open to the public. The gold towns areounds Beecheorths and Wangaratta are lovely.
You can stock up on cheap supplies at the SPC Ardmona Factory in Sheparton.
Bright and Mt Buffalo are lovely.
There is lots to see in this part of the State.

King Valley is lovely and a great foodie destination but may be not a lot of kids type activities there although, since my own kids are now adults, I haven't been looking for kid friendly things to do.
Our kids did love Bright and we used to go every Easter. King Valley is an easy day trip from there or travel via King Valley as you head south towards Ballarat before turning west. Camping/caravaning by the river in Bright is absolutely great for the kids. You would need to book well ahead I think if you are travelling during school holidays.

Thanks everyone for the replies and looking forward to more.
We did look at the port town of Echuca as a destination, as we both visited as kids and enjoyed it,yet with time restraints we have regrettably cut it from the must do part of the trip.
mind you this is only our shake down trip and I've heard,...once you go camping/caravaning it gets in your blood...so return we shall.
Beechworth sounds great and thats 'on the way' to our current stops, so thanks we'll pop in there.
Bright - will have to check this out as Bright sounds relaxing and inviting.
king Valley was mainly added so that the kids could just be kids around the camp site and play cricket etc whilst everyone dug in to local fresh produce...we have invited friends to meet us along the way, so that should keep the kids entertained there
great tip with the SPC factory we will it on add to the to do list!
thank you Fodorians! keep those great tip coming, please
