We did! In 2004 we found ourselves driving from Oberwesel to Reims on Thanksgiving Day. We stopped in Luxembourg for lunch-- chicken sandwiches!! We had, and still to this day, we have so much to be grateful for!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYBODY!!

Not Thanksgiving but Christmas on the road, driving back to Vienna from St. Wolfgang, nothing open so we stopped at a gas station on the autobahn, picked up hard rolls, and I do mean hard, squeeze tube of mustard, salami and paprika potato chips, sat in the parking lot and shared our Christmas dinner.

Have done 3 of last 5 Thanksgivings abroad....2X in Paris (including last year) and once in Madrid. I can eat turkey any time, but being in Europe is always special.

Three times. The first time was in Dublin a long time ago, visiting my sister who was in school at Trinity. We spent considerable time trying to find a restaurant that had turkey, and finally got tired and settled for chicken (and lots of Guinness).

Several years ago we were in Amsterdam, and two years ago it was London. The "turkey" dinner in London meant going to a Turkish restaurant next door to our apartment in Bloomsbury.

Two years ago in Lisbon. No turkey but the meal was delicious and we were still thankful for one another and having a great trip. Actually it was really great to enjoy a US holiday in Europe where there was no hustle bustle, no markets or shops closed. It was a different experience and definitely one that we'd do again.

Many, many years ago we were in Barcelona for Thanksgiving. I went to La Boqueria and bought roasted chicken and string beans. No one had pavo asado.
