LAX - - - "The Gateway to Hell"

I have come to believe that LAX is the gateway to hell.
One of the gates at LAX is the one to hell.
If you are going to hell, you have to go through LAX.

If you are just passing through, you get a glimpse of what hell is all about.
You will spend hours standing in line to talk to completely uncaring people, who will go on break just as it is your turn.
You will wander through miles of bewildering corridors made narrow by construction barricades, that hide all directional signs.
You will walk for miles dragging luggage, suddenly meeting up with fellow passengers who thought they were going in a different direction.
None of the escalators work.
You will be told to go to a certain gate, and upon arrival, will be told to go back to the original gate, which now is empty of all people.

I am certain that LAX is at least a big part of the hell experience.

But maybe that's just me.

I think your experience made you lose your marbles, because you were obviously not at LAX, you were at Boston Logan.

ORD

PHL

IAD

please don't ask anyone to OVERSEE this, either..after all, the big government might have to get involved.

LOL! Great post, BillJ!

Agree that your description could fit any number of other airports!

LAX is not my favorite either BillJ, but flying these days is difficult almost without exception at lots of airports and for many reasons. Leaving HNL is no fun, having to clear agriculture before you even get started with the rest of the rigamarole. Of course, I'm probably already cranky just because I'm leaviang. LOL

I have had negative experiences at LAX, too, so I can appreciate the OP's thoughts.

Why can't you mail a postcard at LAX? Even the Admiral's Club will not mail a postcard. You can at ORD.

And try arriving at the International Terminal and moving through passport control. What a mess.

Well, if I had the choice of being stuck at LAX or Fresno; LAX would win hands down!

I've lived in L.A. County most of my life; since the mid 60s, and have regularly gone in and out of LAX hundreds of times, either alone or with my family as a child, and have not had that experience. That sounds like airports in Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, and Paris' Charles de Gaulle. Happy Travels!

This post made me laugh.........I don't think LAX is really that bad. I found JFK overwhelmingly huge (got lost in the Delta terminal, but I get lost easily), and Kansas City was positively claustrophobic. Airports in general are a hellish experience!

DFW is too far to walk? Within the terminals or from there to town (HAHAHAHA)? Try the skylink next time.

MIA customs is horrendous. Never had a problem at ORD. Wondering when Dulles will upgrade its facilities to at least early 1980s quality . . .

The worst domestic airport is Miami, especially if you are going from an international flight to a domestic flight.

The worst major European airport is CDG. There is nothing, I mean nothing, that makes that place human.

I have flown into LAX many times and have not had a problem, except for the time there was some sort of terrorist alert and we disembarked in a hangar.

I have not flown into DFW in a while but I do remember something like a coal car taking us from terminal to terminal.

Amen, and why in France, near Paris of all places is the food in the airport so awful.

VolCrew- I think US airports removed all post boxes after 911 as security precautions
