Lost Camera - Charles De Gaulle Airport

I was travelling on Monday, October 3rd at Charles De gaulle Airport terminal 1 and lost my camera. It is in a small mostly black and orange bag and is a Canon Powershot camera. I care about the camera, but more important is the memory card which contains our precious memories of our trip to Paris. If there is any chance that anyone has found this and can help it find its way home, I would be happy to pay a reward. The best way to contact me is via e-mail at [email protected]. Thank you in advance for your help.

Michael, that site is a hoot. I guess there is a site for practically everything now.

This is a good reminder for those who have not YET lost pictures. Minimize the damage by not keeping all the pictures in one place. Upload to laptop/tablet, website, copy to another memory card, change memory cards often, etc.

As a practical consideration please be aware that often the first response from a Parisian is "non." Do not assume their initial answer is in fact no. It may be "no, but tell me more,"

When I see the "objets trouvés" office anywhere (things are only "found" in France, not lost), it looks like Ali Baba's cavern. I often rent cars at Gare du Nord, and the (slow) elevators to the parking lot are right next to the "found objects" office. You would not believe the giant boxes that I have seen when somebody comes enquiring about keys, notebooks, mobile phones or sunglasses.

My wife lost her pocketbook filled with cash, jewelry, passport everything at CDG on our way downstairs to pick up the rental car.

It was returned to us by "lost and found" 3 weeks later when we returned to CDG to go home. Every thing in it intact.

A marvelous experience.

I lost a purse while walking in Paris; it was small and I dropped it without noticing. A few months later I received a letter in French, from the city's found bureau, telling me how to retrieve my purse. A friend's sister in Paris picked it up for me. That was also a marvelous experience.

I left my camera equipment on the train when we stopped in Rome. I went to the security office within minutes of the train's departure and he reported it to the next station manager.

Do you think I got it back? hahahahahahahahahahaha

Hi All,

I have been trying to trace and retrieve my daughters camera which she accidentally left on an Easyjet plane on the 9th March this year. She had taken a flight from Gatwick to Barcelona. The same plane then flew onto Paris where someone handed the camera in to “Lost Property”.
I have an item number but have found almost impossible to get any real information about the cameras whereabouts, etc.

I was informed by someone in the lost property office in Barcelona that the camera had been handed in in Paris but have not had any real information form CDG. I have called on a number of occasions and have sent numerous e-mails but have had very little response.

I have been informed that that all objects found on Easyjet flights are eventually sent to a company called “First Flight” near Stansted in the UK, from there the lost items are returned to their owners by courier service for a fee. However items are only sent back to the UK once there is a sufficient amount of items to make it worth while. I understand that there is a delivery about once every 6 weeks through the summer but less frequently in winter. First Flight have recently received a delivery from Charles de Gaulle but unfortunately our camera was not included.

Does anyone have any advice or experience in retrieving lost items from Paris CDG – any information that could help.

Many thanks,

Mark Stephenson

Mark, I'm not sure who told you items on Easyjet flights were sent to Stansted, the Easyjet website says they are given to the airport's lost property office, after the Easyjet baggage servicees team hands them over. I don't know, this is what the CDG airport website says
>

The CDG website also says that if you lost an item on board, you should call that airline, not them.

So good luck, but I wouldn't count on ever seeing that camera again. The stories you have gotten are contradictory, you know, that the item was turned into the airport lost and found, but also that Easyjet keeps them at CDG until they get enough and then they are shipped to England.

You seem to be doing the best you can, even having found out about First Flight and shipments they've received from CDG.

I had two cameras stolen by a "security" guy right before we boarded at CDG in 2009. Thanks to a friend returning home the following day (and with her flight delayed) using some sleuthing expertise, she found out from security at CDG that two cameras (my cameras) had been "found."

I called and e-mailed back and forth with CDG security, and then the CDG Lost and Found Department. They finally verified they were my cameras.

I was then turned over to a company named Bagages du Monde, who emailed and stated they would have the cameras back to me shortly after the first of the year (about a week later) for a hefty fee of 80€, but at that moment I didn’t care.

So call security and Lost & Found. I wish you luck and definitely know how you feel.

Being concerned about my images more than my expensive camera and lens, I do these.

I have a label with my name, phone number, and email address taped on both the camera body and the lens. It is a Nikon D60 camera and a AF S NIKKOR 18-200 lens.

I transfer all images from my image chip to my laptop every night. Back ten years ago I would put a new image chip in the camera every day or so.
