Great pictures! Brings back happy memories of our trip to the Top End ten years ago. One of our best family vacations. Did you go to Buley Rock Hole in Litchfield? Our boys (now young men actually) still talk about it.

Thanks for the kind words.

It is good getting positive feedback after spending so much time on putting it together.

We did go to Buley Ralph, it was fabulous but a little crowded.

Gunlom at Kakadu was the one that really blew us away, but not nearly as accessible as Buley. I wouldn't try that road with a campervan again!

Hi Shane,
Your photos have brought back such wonderful memories of the trip we did with our two boys in 1997 - 12 months around Australia.

It's funny because our youngest also wears glasses and just seeing the various poses I know I have the exact same ones in the exact same places. - Mum with her arm around the boys whilst Dad takes the photo

Our boys who are now 25 and 23 have the most wonderful memories of that 12 month trip - travelling as you've done it is just the best experience I think - especially for kids. We still reminisce and I know the boys will be forever grateful for the time we've spent together 'on the road'.

Thanks for sharing the photos!

Hi stormbird,

I would LOVE to do a 12 month trip, but all that time in a campervan would be a challenge. A caravan and seperare vehicle would be a little easier. Unfortunately, owning a retail business stops us from chasing that dream for the momment.

It certainly is a wonderful and majestic part of our great country and it has whet my domestic travelling appetite. Darwin to Broome via the Kimberleys may be next on the agenda.

Hi Shane we were very fortunate to be able to our trip. We had an ex school bus - 32' long & it had had a fit out but we did a total strip & refit. My dear DH worked every spare minute on it.The refit took about 6 months DH doing a lot of the work. An ex diesel fitter by trade was useful too but really we never had a mechanical problem on the trip. We towed a Jackaroo on an A frame. The 4WD was loaded with our camp gear for the occasion when there were just some places that the bus couldn't go. We'd just go bush for maybe 5 days - it was always lovely to come 'home' to the bus. Can't wait to hit the road again when we retire.

Hi, shanek,
I'm sure that was the same crocodile we saw in the Yellow Water cruise!! Great to see your photos, too, as we went to more-or-less the same places. Unfortunately I developed a type of flu which made me ache from head to foot and which lasted for 4 days from the day we went to Litchfield National Park to the day we left Kakadu National Park. I was not able to do everything we had planned so will probably have to go back to Kakadu! I did get to see Ubirr and Nouarlangie art sites, and did the Yellow Water sunrise cruise.
It looks as if your trip was as fantastic as ours. It is a wonderful part of Australia, and we shall be returning.
