Eurostar Italy train to Florence fro Milan's Malpensa Airport
Does anyone know if the Eurostar Italy train to Florence stops physically WITHIN the Milan Malpensa Airport or is it necessary to take a bus/taxi to nearby Gallarate train station to pick it up? Rail Europe was kinda nasty and sounded unsure. My travel companion has disabilities and we want to avoid schlepping. Also, if it does stop in the airport, then where? The Malpensa site shows a train, but it might be the shuttle train into central Milan. Thanks for any info.

The AV train makes 2 runs currently from Milan airport (Malpensa 1)to Florence without changing trains, but it's likely the times won't work for you (departs 12:22 or 19:22 - travel times 2:38).
Here is the airport train info.

ES Italia AV 9519 FRECCIAROSSA Malpensa Aeroporto 12:22 Firenze S. M. Novella 15:00 02:38

FYI - Do not look for trains for Italy on RailEurope. They do not list all trains and they make up their own train numbers. They also don't show sale prices. Use Trenitalia to look for your Italian trains. Trenitalia can be a bit tricky as they don't show prices for the slower R trains unless you list a date within 7 days.

Trenitalia also doesn't show discounts if you combine an R train with a fast train (AV,ES,ESCity,IC) on a route. If you want to advance purchase discount tickets for fast trains, use this Trenitalia link for fast trains only. You must use the Italian names (Firenze, etc.) on this link or it will say no results. It will start to auto-fill as you are typing.

Rail Europe is an American travel agency which makes its money by selling overpriced passes, and deliberately providing misleading information about trains to show its products in a good light.
Trust nothing you hear from them. Or anything from its boosters on this forum.

I have been reading that in the present moment, the direct trains to and from Malpensa to Florence SMN are suspended. Today is May 17, 2013. Des anyone have updated information? I am trying to go directly from theFlorence train station to the airport in Milan without stopping in Milan Centrale. Thanks to anyone who knows!

This thread is a couple of years old. Trenitalia only briefly ran a couple of trains without changes from Malpensa airport to Florence. They no longer do. You will have to take a train to Milan and switch to a train to the airport or the shuttle bus.

The most straightforward answer to your question is to get an Italotreno train to Milan Porto Garibaldi, then a Trenitalia train from there straight into Malpensa.
Organising this requires the Florence-Milan train to be prereserved via www.italotreno.it: timetables for the PG-Malpensa train are at www.trenitalia.com. Unsurprisingly, it's beyond the wit of the Italians to create one web site with all the country's railway services, and the useless Malpensa website can't be arsed telling its customers about this option
There's no real point in reserving the Porto Garibaldi-Malpensa train, and you may as well get it from any Trenitalia machine in Florence station to save the mild stress of getting a ticket in Milan. Changing trains at PG is a great deal easier than crossing the immense steppes (not to mention the vertiginous steps) at Centrale.

jcuddehe - Your options are Trenitalia from Florence to one of the stations in Milan that have a train connection to the airport (Centrale, P Garibaldi, Cadorna) or Italorail to P Garibaldi (Italo doesn't go to Centrale or Cadorna). If you want the Malpensa Shuttle to the airport, it departs from Centrale.
