Inexpensive jewelry (like Claire's) in Paris?
I'm looking to buy some inexpensive jewelry (mainly rings) in the under 20 euros range. I know that there are Claire's here, but we have that back in the States. Something not too distant from the Marais neighborhood would be ideal. Thanks.

There are a couple of boutiques on Ile Saint Louis that have lovely accessories, scarves, jewelry, and handbags. I personally love Agatha, but that is more than your 20 euro range. My adult daughters love to go to ProMod and H&M (Paris locations seem to have lots of jewelry at really excellent prices).

In the Marais there are lots of jewelry stores, some of which are relatively inexpensive. I have had good luck at Tam Tam dans la Ville, at 3 rue Pas de la Mule, near the Place des Vosges.
In the Latin Quarter, you can take a look at Kazana, 7 rue Lagrange. I was there several years ago, but the web site indicates it is still there.

I've bought some cheap costume jewelry at Monoprix, but to be honest, they aren't as cheap as Claire's, not by a long shot. The best cheap jewelry I've bought in Paris has been at the roving markets. I got some fairly nice earrings at the Edgar Quinet market once for only 1 euro each pair. At least that stuff was slightly different and better than Claire's quality. ALl that stuff is made in China or someplace like that, anyway, you know.

If she likes silver, the Gudul stores have nice stuff, mainly from North Africa. It's priced by the weight, so don't be surprised not to see actual firm price tags. There are signs telling you how many euros per gram for each item, though, and little scales you can weigh your stuff on.

thanks everyone! i ended up finding the perfect ring for 16 euros at pierre caron in le marais. it was such a cute store and the quality for price was awesome. i'm super happy i didn't have to get a cheaply-manufactured claire's ring!
