Best time of year to visit Disney

Just curious, all things considered(weather, school, pricing) what is the best time of year to visit Disney World?

I went shortly after Thanksgiving once and it was great. Reasonable lines, Christmas lights were up, and pleasant weather.

No argument with above comment. Mid-October to mid-November is also very nice.

Would agree with mid-October. We used to go every year as there weren't very many lines and it was not as hot / humid. Well worth the week's worth of homework I had to do while there.

Early May if you don't want crowds. Weather is nice, schools are in session in most parts of the world. We went for a few days during the week in early May a few years back and the place was empty.

Agree that October is also nice. Disney does a Halloween Party that kids will loves. (Extra cost as it is a seperate event at the Magic Kingdom.)

Columbus Day weekend can be a bit crowded, however.

We went in early May and it was not crowded at all. A little humid for us,(we are from CA, so are spoiled by a dryer climate). Take you kids out of school, particularly if they are in elementary or jr. high. When our daughter was young, the school alway gave us some static about taking her out of school, but she was a good student. Looking back, I wish we had taken her out more often.

Usually not too crowded the weeks before or after Easter weeks - that is too weeks on either side. November before Thanksgiving. October can still be hurricane season - and also still very hot and humid.

Oh - and it;s really easy to pick the lest crowded weeks - look at Disney hotel rates - the cheapest are the emptiest.

The first two weeks of December are my favorite: comfortable weather, small crowds, lots of Christmas decorations.

I agree. I think the school should allow students a few personal days(just like they do the staff). Kids learn far more on trips than they would in school anyway,IMOP. We only took our daughter out a few times, but I would do it differently too if it were to do over again.

Disney has great water parks. With younger kids Blizzard Beach. With kids over 12 Typhoon Lagoon. If you go when hot, a day at a water park could be a lot of fun. One of the best days we've had with our kids at WDW was at Blizzard Beach.
