Mayor Bloomberg Proposes Tourist Lanes on City Sidewalks

Building on the popular success of the bicycle lanes now crossing the city, Mayor Bloomberg announced the creation of "Tourist Lanes" on some of the city's more crowded sidewalks. Accordingly, Fifth Avenue, SoHo, the West Village and parts of the Upper West Side will have clearly marked lanes dividing local and sight-seeing traffic. There will be no need to divide Times Square sidewalks, as they are resident-free already.

Is the "tourist" side the curb side or the building side?
Any plan to charge for the wristbands for the tourists?
I think I know which side will be shoveled in the winter.

vjp, that's hilarious!

It should also save tourists from the bruises from "preemptive elbowing" by NYC locals

I think they should issue ez passes to NY'ers then they can set up express lanes on the sidewalks.

Fanny pack-over there
Latte and and 20 foot dog leash-NY'er lane
Directions for Ellen's-over there
"get out of my 'effin' way-NY'er lane

He must have heard we were coming. Sadly I walk just like I drive, so I will have a foot in each lane.

Shouldn't there be a chalk outline on the right?
