Need tour group recommendations for Israel
My church would like to gift our pastor and his wife a trip to Israel. He is a Bible scholar so I'm looking for a reputable tour group with a Christian bent and a knowledgable guide. I would think Jerusalem, Bethlehem and other Christian/Jewish Biblical sites would be of interest to them. They are in their seventies and physically fit.
Does anyone know of a tour group that fits this and what is the recommended season to visit Israel?
Lastly, are most tours one to two weeks long and what is their average price?
Many thanks!

What a thoughtful idea.
If in the States, there are a number of Tour Operators who handle group tours to Israel, both for Jews and Christians, with emphasis on travelers interests. Group sizes can vary, as well, length of trip which can be 1/week, 10/days or even 2/weeks. And, as everything else, prices will vary, often based on level of accommodations provided.
You can contact:
- Isram World Travel, located in NYC
- Gate 1, located in Philadephia area
- OAT, Overseas Adventure Travel, may have an Israel tour
If a particular denomination - Protestant, Lutheran, Episcopalian, etc - I'm sure their headquarters would have some information for you.
Good luck!

We took a tour called " The Christian Pilgrim " through General Tours in October 2009.
The tour was 8 days and was excellent.
You can view the tour on their website www.generaltours.com

We are going to Israel Oct.19th - Oct. 29 2012 with Maranatha Tours. If you contact them for info on the tour you need to know our friend and the man heading up this trip...Ardine Wurthrich. He is a retired minister and this will be his 6th trip. The entire tour is customized by him and his good friend who lives in Israel. Ardine takes a small group somewhere each year either local or abroad. We went with him 2007 to Greece and Turkey.... "Following in the Footsteps of Paul" Wonderful experience. We left as strangers in a group of 42 travelers and returned with 42 friends!
