We're planning an island-hopping holiday in Croatia this July. We're starting in Split and finishing in Dubrovnik. In between, we'll have 6 days. We would like to spend some time in both Hvar and Korcula, but would also like to visit smaller islands around the two. We plan on using ferries, and taking smaller boats to the smaller islands. What would you do, and where would you go if you had six days?
We were thinking initially 5 days in Hvar (visiting on day trips Brac, Pakleni, and Vis) and an overnight in Korcula. Is one day enough time to explore Korcula, or should we take one away from Hvar and add a day to Korcula?

I thought so - it is charming, but quite small. If possible, time your visit so you can see the moresca!

Hi, if I was you I would add another couple of nights to Korcula. Depending on what you like doing there's lots of good walks/cycle trails and of course water sports e.g. kayaking to keep you entertained. Theres also lots of selcuded coves and bays you can chill at. Then you've got the old town itself which you can easily visit in half a day, leaving time to explore the rest of the island, which sometimes gets overlooked.

From Korcula you can also travel to Mljet, a fantastic island with a beautiful national park and hop on one of the many water taxis to lots of the small islets in the Korcula archipelago. You can also spend a day visiting Lastovo, again a very good day trip from Korcula.

You'll have a great time in Croatia wherever you go. Just one tip, as you are travelling in July during the busy season, make sure you book any boat/catamaran tickets the day/night before you depart, to avoid any queues in the morning and the risk of not getting a seat.

We loved Korcula. Other people there were trying to extend their stay. So I'd give Korcula at least one more night.

Have you worked out the details of your boat travel? Even in high season, not every boat goes every day. There is a bus from Korcula to Dubrovnik (via ferry to Orebic), but it leaves very early in the morning. A catamaran for Dubrovnik leaves at 4:00PM but only in high summer.

It depends on the transport options, but I'd split half and half, as the entirety of both islands have nice coves to explore.

I agree that Korcula deserves at least one full day - so two nights. But do check the ferry connections cause even in July we found we were limited by choice of when ferries came and went. I think the ferry schedules were on line by about this time last year. I thought there would probably be more once we got there but there weren't so I'm glad we booked out hotels based on the ferry schedule we were able to get a couple months ahead.

Are there any bus tours after the 15th of September?We will arrive in Dubrovnik the 14th and plan to take some day outings to Montenegro and other places..

However I noticed searching through the internet that many tours companies advertises these trips up to the 15th..

This will be our our first trip to Croatia and we will love to explore places outsite Dubrovnik.
