Family of 4 need a deal in Costa Rica

Family of 4, two 16 year olds and parents are wanting to travel to Costa Rica in early June. We are on a strict budget but want something that feels special for our daughter and her friend. Any suggestions of hotel/condo/houses/dining options and activities? All help is greatly appreciated.

We're going in mid-June and I can tell you that a lot of places are offering specials for that time period. But, you need to give a bit more information. What type of activities are you interested in - beach, volcano, rain forest, cloud forest??? How long do you want to stay? Do you want to stay in one location or travel around a bit?

We want to stay for 5-7 days. We are interested in the beach and the rainforest. We want activities teenage (16) girls would enjoy, like maybe ziplining, beach, etc. Since everything would be new for all of us I think we would enjoy everything you listed. We are completely open. We would like it to be special but not cost prohibitive. We are open to staying in different places. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you could do 7 days, then the most popular itinerary is Arenal and Manual Antonio and either split the time evenly or perhaps spend one extra day in Arenal. In Arenal, you could zipline, hike down to the waterfall, do the Hanging Bridges tour, and go to the hot springs. Take a look at Arenal Observatory Lodge, Silencio Del Campo, and Los Lagos for hotel choices. In Manual Antonio, you would have great beaches, surfing, and the rainforest. Look at La Posado Bungalows for a good budget option that's near the national park and public beach. Hope this helps. Of course, I haven't been to any of these places yet, but I looked at when researching our June trip.

try vrbo.com for a house/condo rental. We rented a wonderful 2 bedroom house in Manuel Antonio for a very reasonable price.

Have not stayed there yet, but check out Vista Del Cerro in La Fortuna. It gets excellent reviews for a budget hotel to see the volcano. I'm going to check it out myself in late July.
