Seoul stopover in July

Seoul stopover in July
HI all,
We will be in South Korea for 24 hrs in July - I have a few questions and wonder if those more experienced can help out.
1. We will have our young daughter (age 2 and a bit) in tow. We don't yet have accommodation and were wondering - we'd like to see some of Seoul, but would it be better to stay in Incheon and catch public transport into Seoul, or just go straight into Seoul and find family-friendly accommodation there? Our plane arrives at 13:05 and leaves the next day at 19:05.
2. Can anyone suggest either accommodation (maybe aparthotel style) and/ or a good area to stay in? I figure we'd like to see the craft / gallery area and maybe some parks or temples. We won't be doing museums. Also interested in funky neighbourhoods. We like soaking up the feel of a place without having to commit to a museum (never a good idea with a small person).
Is that enough information to go on? Thanks in advance.

Did you see ms_go's posting on experiencing a little Seoul during a long Incheon (ICN) layover. That might give you a feeling of what can be done and go on from there.
The Hyatt at ICN is very nice if you opt to stay out there. Good eating options and the shuttle is frequent. You could walk to the terminal if you want to exercise 2 yr old legs.

Hi kmkrnn, thanks, I did see ms_go's posting and found it very helpful, it did give us some very good ideas. I am hoping someone who's done the trip with children will respond, and perhaps someone who knows the neighbourhoods in Seoul who might be able to recommend a good neighbourhood for us. I did see a website which talked about the neighbourhoods was just confused by the descriptions, and it is hard to know where to pick a hotel. I'm sure we don't want the business district unless it's close to the main sights.
I will check the Hyatt at Incheon, it sounds lovely. We have a stopover paid for by the airline on the way to Europe which will be in a hotel in Incheon (which one, we don't know yet, it's all arranged for you), and thought that on our return journey we would also take a similar break even though our flights do connect. We were hoping to check out Seoul then.

Seoul is big. Even though the metro system is very good, it can take a long time to get anywhere. You should figure out what you want to see and then find a hotel in that area. I stayed in a more upmarket area south of the river, and it really took too long to get to the palace/Insadong area. (Click on my name for my East Asia TR.)
