Baja California whale watching
Does anyone have recent experience of whale watching trips in Baja California? I am making tentative plans for a holiday next March/April (2012) - coming from the UK to San Diego. I would like to include a 4/5 day whale watching trip in Baja - I understand that a number of companies do trips from San Diego - and this would remove the need for hire car complications across the border etc. I am also hoping to fit in a trip to Palm Springs for the Dinah Shore golf classic as well as spending time in and around San Diego (but that's for the US forum!). Any tips most welcome. Thanks in advance.

With 4-5 days leaving from San Diego you could easily fly on your own down to the tip of the Baja peninsula to La Paz or Cabo San Lucas. It's 1000 miles or so so a bit too long for a car trip.

Hi, you don't have to go all the way to cabo or the tip to touch a whale. I have taken groups south to Guerrero negro and Scammon's lagoon , the winter home of the Gray whale. Easily driven south to GN about 500 miles From Ensenada. or take the bus from TJ to GN. its a 9 hour ride. If you need more info or plan for next year, the best month to go is march. peak time. we came back in March, there were 30 of us. ALL touched whales several times, a fantastic experience. I can be reach by e-mail

Dear casseopia:
I have alway wanted to do a trip to the bays where the whales give birth and I have some links to share with you. I can't give an opinion on any of them, but these are just for you to check out for a start:
