I am doing a bike and barge tour of The Netherlands. So excited! I arrive at 9:00 am on Saturday, 7 May. We cannot access the boat until 4:00 pm that afternoon, a fact that I have triple confirmed. I have learned through bitter experience that because I cannot sleep on planes--even with prescription sleep aids--I *must* nap the first day as soon as practicable after landing. When I don't, I end up with a cold 4 days later every.single.time. I do not want to ruin yet another trip by getting sick!

I am therefore looking for a place where I can sleep for a few hours from around 11 am to 1 pm. Check in at most hotels appears to be 2 pm, not to mention they are SO expensive for just a few hours.

I looked into the Yotel nap pods at Schipol, but unfortunately they can only be accessed by passengers with a valid departure ticket. As Amsterdam is my final destination, I cannot reach the Yotel pods (I corresponded with customer service to confirm this).

I also looked on the airbnb site to seek accommodation with a local, but the prices are similar to a hotel. I am wary of hostels because a dorm is unlikely to be quiet enough to nap during the day.

Am I missing any brilliant ideas?

Ah, your google-fu is better than mine. I had searched "hourly" not "day room." It is expensive, but less than a hotel for a night and available at the time I need it. I hope to find a less costly solution but that is an excellent option. Thank you!

My best suggestion is to go to an indoor pool, more specifically, to their sauna area. These are supposed to be quiet, restful areas, so you could shower, sauna, then go lay down for a couple of hours. Cheaper than a hotel room, and pretty much every big city has large indoor pool complexes.
