Is Naples unsafe? How to take care and be safe?
I’ve heard Naples, especially the train area is very sketch.Which other areas are unsafe?I am in Naples for two days with no itinerary as yet.
can you suggest safe neighbourhoods experiences and food options?

In Naples, stay in very nice and safe Chiaia neighborhood near the water.
We didn’t feel unsafe in Naples but this neighborhood really felt very safe, both at night and during the day. We stayed in the Chiaia neighborhood at Palacio Alabardieri,a lovely hotel on a side street, good restaurants nearby.

We stayed in the Centro Storico or historical center and felt perfectly safe. The area near the railway station is oftentimes a little dicey, not just in Naples, so look into reviews before you book.
Be aware of your surroundings and careful of your purse/backpack/phone as pickpockets abound. And don’t walk down deserted alleys late at night, take sensible precautions and you’ll be fine..

I've visited Naples both on business and on multiple tourist opportunities. There are places I would not go in a tank but they are not in the centre of town where you are going. The ferry docks to the station are pretty gritty, and certainly you want your wits about you but unless out at night you are unlikely to get mugged on the main streets. Local shop keepers know who the local wild boys are and do not want them harassing potential customers outside their shops. I've never been threatened, Mrs Bilbo had a hat stolen by a kid on a vespa but he gave it back 5 minutes later after a shouting match with the local shop keeper. As my Italian friends say, Naples is not Italy it is a Casino. Me, I recognise the grittyiness and more or less like it. But others feel safe as well.
