Aero Paracas. This airline offers mostly 30-minute flights over the Nazca Lines, though in some cases they will fly from Paracas or Lima. 01/641–7000. From S/250.

Nazca Airlines. Standard 30-minute flights take you over the Nazca or Palpa Lines, and the company also offers on-the-ground sightseeing tours and packages starting from Lima. 56/224–6373. From S/250.

Aero Nasca. Thirty-minute flights over the Nazca Lines, 45-minute flights over the Palpa Lines, or a combined 55-minute flight over both, include a transfer from your hotel to the airport and a video introduction about the lines. Alas Peruanas. A variety of flights over the Nazca Lines and other area sites are available. Their longer Discovery tours include flights over the Cahuachi ruins and Cantalloc aqueducts. El Señor de Luren. On the third Monday in October and again at Easter, Ica's streets are lined with carpets of flowers for an overnight pilgrimage, in which thousands of the faithful go in procession with a highly illuminated image of "El Señor" (Christ), said to have come ashore here after a shipwreck in the mid-16th century. Ica.

Fiesta de la Vendimia. In early March, the grape harvest heralds this weeklong celebration of the local wine industry, with winery visits, grape-stomping contests, an agricultural fair, entertainment, a beauty pageant, a parade, and fireworks. Ica.

Fiesta de Verano Negro. Afro-Peruvian culture is the focus of this celebration in Chincha in late February, with music, dance, food, and other events. Look for El Alcatraz dance, in which a male dancer tries to set his partner's cloth tail on fire with a candle. Chincha.
