This economical resort is in a small, quiet bay. Depending on the day you might encounter archaeologists or ecologists, honeymooners, tour groups, and backpackers. The rooms are large and hot water is always available. Camping on the beach is also an option for S/13. The on-site restaurant cooks great breakfasts and good fish plates for dinner but their day long à la carte menu is hits or miss. The bilingual staff is helpful and since Chala has little to offer, the hotel provides lots to keep you entertained: two private beaches, kayak and wave-running rentals, hiking trails, evening bonfires, endless games of volleyball, a good outdoor bar, and proximity to the ruins. If you rent a room, you also have use of the swimming pool, but campers don't. Pros: Lots of activities, large, clean rooms, near the ruins. Cons: Restaurant is inconsistent, hotel is sometimes too crowded.
