Fodor's Review

It may be a S/10–15 taxi ride to this restaurant in the Paucarpata district, but take your cue from the locals, who come in droves for the simple, straightforward Arequipan food. The interior style is Peruvian country, but the flavors lean toward Creole. Get ready for cuy chactado (deep-fried guinea pig) and ocopa arequipeña (potato-based dish with garlic, olives, onion, and fresh cheese). If you crave seafood, try the chupe de camarones (a creamy shrimp chowder). Open from noon to 7, it's primarily a lunch-only venue Sunday through Thursday, but on Friday and Saturday it doesn't close until 10 (sometimes later) and there's live music, including an orchestra on Saturday nights. Reservations are recommended.
