Fodor's Review

Some very unique items are displayed here, including a mummified baby and teenager, created by covering the dead with salt, muña (wild mint), quinua (a corn-like plant), and izura (pink earth). Upstairs numerous skulls bear the scars (or rather holes) from trepanation, the removal of bone from the skull. Additionally, the museum has Chavín textiles and ceramics, and a delightful little park accessible through the bottom floor. Here you'll find original carved stones, benches, and a little café.
