Fodor's Review

This restored rubber-boom-era mansion on the Malecón is well worth a visit—if not for a meal, at least for a drink or much-needed espresso. It has sidewalk tables on the Malecón and plenty more inside, either in the airy main dining room or a wooden mezzanine. The French-inspired menu features both basic bistro fare (think escargots, fish sautéed in butter, or chicken cordon bleu) and such international favorites as hamburgers and pastas. Try the doncella al ajillo

(Amazon catfish sautéed with garlic) or the tenderloin Chateaubriand. If you're looking for a light meal, the bistro also serves salads and sandwiches, including the classic croque-monsieur (grilled ham & cheese).
