The city's most elegant restaurant is in a lovely building encrusted with colorful azulejos. The nicest seating is in front of the bar, surrounded by photos of Sophia Lauren and other icons. They serve both local specialties and international fare. If you feel adventurous, try the suri al ajo (palm-tree grubs cooked in wine and garlic sauce) for an appetizer. Other jungle treats include chicharrón de lagarto (fried caiman nuggets) and Amazon fish dishes
such as paiche in a carambola (starfruit) sauce and the traditional doradoa la loretana, a sautéed filet with fried yuca and chonta salad. Gran Maloca has an extensive wine list and locally-made fruit liqueurs.
