$-$$, Continental, San Isidro
Fodor's Review:
With a tree-shaded park at its doorstep, tranquil El Cartujo feels miles away from the busy streets of San Isidro. Sit outside under honey-color canopies or in the dining room dominated by a painting of the obscure order of monks that gave the place its name. The salads are excellent; the ensalada flamenco has smoked salmon, plump olives, and buttons of caviar atop fresh greens. Save room for seafood, especially the sole stuffed with lobster or the sea bass topped with crab. There's a top-notch wine list, and the steward is happy to help you make the perfect selection.
