Fodor's Review

In 2014, the flagship of Peru's most celebrated chefs (Gastón Acurio and his wife, Astrid Gutsche) relocated to a meticulously restored colonial mansion called Casa Moreyra. With its high ceilings, adobe walls, and hand-painted tiles, it's the perfect setting for an unforgettable dining experience. The main restaurant, which includes several private rooms, serves a set menu with 29 separate dishes that takes you on a journey through Peru's culinary traditions and varied biodiversity over the course of two and a half hours. Acurio changes the menu with the seasons to ensure fresh ingredients, but it always contains variations on typical dishes from Peru's coast, highland, and Amazon regions. The meal can be enjoyed with a selection of wines chosen by Acurio for an additional fee. The Barra, on the mansion's covered patio, offers à-la-carte dining with a menu that is changed twice a week. The set meal should be reserved online at least two months in advance, though you can usually book a table in the Barra two weeks ahead of time.
