The best restaurant in Urubamba, probably in the Valley, El Huacatay was serving Peruvian fusion cuisine before it became trendy, in an intimate atmosphere and with a lovely garden. All that experience has certainly stood them in good stead, and you're likely to need some time to decide between all the enticing possibilities on the menu. Starters such as ricotta croquettes with sacha tomate (tree tomato) sorbet or mushroom ravioli with blue cheese sauce are hard
to pass up. The alpaca tenderloin is always a good bet; there are some interesting vegetarian choices as well. As for cocktails, try a frozen coca sour. And be sure to save room for the frozen passion-fruit cheesecake.
