Close enough, but still removed from the hubbub of the Plaza de Armas, this hotel on the tiny Plazoleta Santo Domingo was the last home of Francisco Pizarro, the first governor of Peru. The glass-covered lobby may look like an airport, but it gives you a good idea of the sleek contemporary design that is the signature of this hotel chain. The modern rooms have colonial touches, some with original furniture, and all have central heating to keep out the chill. The plush bar makes a mean pisco sour. Pros: Contemporary rooms with all the conveniences, some rooms have views to the Sun Temple, close to the action, but not in the thick of it. Cons: A bit too near the unattractive Avenida El Sol, modern rooms lack the character of other lodgings, customer service has been reported to be uneven.

The hotel was magnificent and my friends and I had the most comfortable and stress-free time. The view of the city was everything we needed to feel the real experience of Cusco. I was extremely happy with our choice, there’s no other hotel like Libertador. I felt like we didn’t miss out on anything, like having the whole Andean experience right in front of us. Cusco is filled with so many people from around the world and thanks to Libertador we were all able to be a part of that.

Lovely hotel where the staff greets you with a cup of mate de coca as you check in. Quiet, but close to the main areas, so you get the best of both.

Service here is incredible, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Rooms are quite small but very clean and nice, and facilities like Internet are very accessible.
