This small hotel with a large staff—there's a 2-to-1 staff-to-guest ratio—prides itself on exceptional service. Regular rooms are quite comfortable, with colonial-style furniture and hardwood floors, but with more modern amenities than this restored 250-year-old house would imply. The top-floor suites and one apartment are similar in style, but larger, with wood-beamed ceilings and great views over the city. The spacious apartment is a great option for those considering a longer stay, and has a fully equipped kitchen. All rooms are decorated with handmade textiles (each with a design reflecting the room's name), which can be purchased if you want a keepsake. The hotel sits a block off the Cuesta San Blas, the "staircase" street leading up from the Plaza de Armas, and could not be more central for sightseeing. Pros: Exceptionally warm welcome from the staff, the massage service is a great way to soothe away those sightseeing aches, fantastic location. Cons: Regular rooms are relatively pricey, it's a steep uphill walk to get here, the adjoining restaurant is extremely small (but cozy!).

Rooms are cute and breakfast is decent but above all else, service makes it more than worth it to stay here. The staff is incredibly helpful and charming.
