The Dirección Regional de Industria y Turismo (Dircetur) provides reliable information on the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. iPerú has helpful information on the region and can provide assistance if you feel you've received inadequate service from a tourist establishment. You'll find a branch in Aguas Calientes, near Machu Picchu, as well as in Cusco. The Oficina Ejecutiva del Comité Boleto Turístico (OFEC) in Cusco sells the 10-day boleto turístico, valid for admission to 16 museums and archaeological sites in the region, including the ruins at Pisac, Chinchero and Ollantaytambo. A private office of note in Cusco is South American Explorers, a membership organization. Its US$50 annual dues get you a quarterly magazine subscription and access to a wealth of information at its clubhouse here in Cusco, as well as in Lima and in Quito, Ecuador. Members can read trip reports, which are especially strong in providing up-to-date information about treks in the region.
