Cusco's licensed taxis bear a black-and-gold checkered rectangle on each side, as well as a light-color official taxi sticker on the windshield. Fares are a standard S/2 within the central city and S/3 after 10 PM. "You should choose your taxi, rather than the driver choosing you," counsels one longtime hotel owner. Have your hotel or restaurant call a taxi for you if you are out late at night.
