The French Novotel chain is here with a two-in-one, old-and-new installment on a quiet, narrow street. The smaller, older section dates from the 16th century and contains rooms, each one different, congregating around a pleasant courtyard. Gardens blend the colonial section into a newer, larger block of the hotel, constructed in similar period style. Newer rooms are pleasantly furnished with all the amenities you'd expect in a hotel of this caliber, but you'll shell out a few extra soles for one of the larger colonial rooms. The covered courtyard buzzes with the activity of live music and artisans showing off their works, and is heated on cold nights by a system of underground hot-water pipes.
