Los Marqueses does business out of a 16th-century home on a quiet street, and is a cut above the standard backpackers' hostel. Rooms congregate around an arcaded courtyard and grand old staircases, and are pretty basic with beds, stucco walls, and print drapes and spreads. The breakfast room is positively Victorian with vases, pictures, and knickknacks charmingly strewn everywhere. This is one of the few businesses in town that accepts American Express traveler's checks as payment, and the owners are always open to bargaining during the off-season on the already inexpensive rates.
