Asunción's yellow Mercedes taxis, operated by Radio Taxi Asunción, are an inexpensive way to get around the city. You can find one on the street, at any major hotel, or at one of the dozens of taxi stands around the city. Make sure your driver turns the meter on or you risk being charged an outrageous fare. A 30% surcharge is added after dark. It can be difficult to hail a taxi at night, so it's perfectly acceptable to ask your hotel or restaurant to call one for you.
