When to Go
Peak Season: November to February
The Falkland Islands are in the southern hemisphere so winter is during the northern hemisphere summers. Even so, the weather here is cool and changeable, so be prepared for sun, rain, and especially wind—sometimes all in one day. Daytime temperatures rarely exceed 18ºC (65ºF) and fall to about 4ºC (40ºF) at night. Daylight hours in summer are long and winds tend to be stronger in summer.
Off Season: May to August
In wintertime temperatures average around 3–4ºC (25ºF) although can fall to minus 6ºC (20ºF) or lower. Snowfall is sparse due to constant winds. Daylight hours are very short.
Shoulder Season: September and October, March and April
There are fewer visitors in this season and the weather is warm enough to view wildlife and for some outdoor sports, especially fishing.
