Museo de Oro
Museo de Oro Review
Bogotá's phenomenal Gold Museum contains a comprehensive collection of pre-Columbian artifacts. The museum's more than 34,000 pieces (in weight alone worth $200 million) were gathered—often by force—from indigenous cultures, including the Muisca, Nariño, Calima, and Sinú. Don't dismiss them as merely primitive; these works represent virtually all the techniques of modern goldsmithing. Most of the gold is in the guarded top-floor gallery, along with the largest uncut emerald in the world. English audio tours are available.
