Say Olé!

Say Olé!

The bullfighting season is January and February, with occasional special events held during the rest of year. All are held at the Plaza de Toros Santamaría near the Parque de la Independencia. Spanish toreros delight the crowds, but Colombia's homegrown bullfighters are also quite exceptional: Bogotá native Cesar Rincón was once the most popular torero in Spain (he has since retired to raise bulls on his own ranch). Tickets can be purchased at the bullring weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM. You can also get tickets on Sunday before the festivities begin at 3 PM, but you may not be able to secure seats for the more popular fights. Prices range from 10,000 pesos to 400,000 pesos depending on where you are seated, since sol (sun) is cheaper than sombra (shade).
