Hotel Loberías del Sur

Carrera 50, Puerto Chacabuco, Aisén, Chile

On a hill overlooking the modest port, this upscale four-star hotel was born because the owner, who runs a catamaran service to Parque Nacional Laguna San Rafael, needed a place to pamper foreign vacationers for the night. After a blustery day at sea, it provides real comfort, such as firm queen-size beds, first-rate hot showers, and bathtubs. The restaurant ($$$), as you might expect, has the finest service in town and nice views. It would be best to reserve your room at least two weeks in advance during high season.

PROS

  • well-equipped spa
  • boat tours to Laguna San Rafael Park
  • exceptional food
