The Lake District Hotels

Hotel Puerto Pilar

Updated 12/31/1969

Fodor's Review

Set on the shore of Lago Llanquihue, this hotel's many activities and perfect volcano views make it immensely popular among Chileans in summer. If you want a bit more of the get-away-from-it-all feel for which the place was originally known, opt for one of the fully furnished cabins. Eight of them are constructed in palafito-style, held up with stilts right on the lakeshore (a style most commonly seen on the island of Chiloé); you can even fish right from your

deck. Carpeted rooms in the main lodge all come with king beds and enormous windows.
