Puerto Varas
A small but fast-growing resort town on the edge of Lago Llanquihue, Puerto Varas is renowned for its view of the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. Stunning rose arbors and Germanic-style architecture grace the many centuries-old houses and churches that dot this tranquil town. Well situated, it's not far to Chiloé, Puerto Montt, Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park and other regional hot spots. Every year new hotels here crop up as tourism continues to rise significantly. Several cafés and trendy restaurants, an excellent casino, and a budding bar scene all point toward Puerto Varas's ascendancy as a serious challenge to Pucón as the region's top vacation spot.
