In the Mapuche language, Lican Ray means "flower among the stones." This pleasant, unhurried little resort town of just 1,688 inhabitants is on Lago Calafquén, the first of a chain of seven lakes that spills over into Argentina. You can rent rowboats and sailboats along the shore, which is also a fine spot to soak up sun. It must be admitted that Lican Ray is not as perfectly manicured as Pucón. With but one paved street, a lot of dust gets kicked up on a dry summer day.
