Hotel Malalhue

Camino Internacional 1615, Pucón, Araucanía, 4920000, Chile

Dark wood and volcanic rock were used in building this hotel at the edge of Pucón, on the road to Calburga. It's about a 15-minute walk from the hubbub of downtown, which is a selling point for some. The cozy sitting room just off the lobby with a fireplace and couches is especially inviting, but the guest rooms, with their plush comforters and pillows, beckon, too. The top-floor "superior" rooms under the gables are more spacious and contain vaulted ceilings; they're a few thousand pesos more than the "standard" rooms, which are perfectly acceptable in their own right and in the same style as the "superiors," though smaller.
