Viña Miguel Torres

Viña Miguel Torres Review

Just south of Curicó and immediately off the Pan-American Highway is one of Chile's most visitor-savvy vineyards. The tour begins with an orientation video that provides a glossy overview of the winery, with its roots in the family winery in Catalonia, Spain, and Miguel Torres's choice to set up shop in Chile while his sister opted for California. Torres was a leader in Chile's wine revolution and is credited as the first in Chile to use a stainless-steel tank—now de rigueur—in the late 1970s. He also brought another tradition from his native Iberia: the annual wine harvest festival that takes place in Curicó's main plaza. Be sure to visit the restaurant, definitely one of the finest in the area.
