The Central Valley Sights

Plaza de los Héroes

Updated 12/31/1969

Fodor's Review

Today's Rancagüinos enjoy relaxing in the city's central square, the Plaza de lost Héroes. A statue of the valiant war hero and future first president Bernardo O'Higgins on horseback stands proudly in the center of the plaza, and although each side of the statue's base quotes one of his famous sayings, curiously enough, there is nothing that indicates to outsiders and newcomers who the statue represents.
