Located in the heart of the fashionable El Golf business and restaurant district, South America's first W hotel opened in mid-2009, setting a new standard of luxury in Santiago. Its smart, modern decoration makes the city's other five-star hotels look staid, but the rooms may be too minimalist for some people's taste. The service is superb.
