Fodor's Review

When it opened, this was the only restaurant on this street near Cerro San Cristóbal. Today it's one of dozens in trendy Bellavista, but its two-level dining room—with walls painted bright shades of blue and yellow, and racks of wine stretching to the ceiling—ensure that it stands out in the crowd. Choose your fish from the extensive menu—swordfish, sea bass, shark, salmon, and tuna are among the choices—and enjoy it a la plancha (grilled) or a la lata (served on a sizzling plate with tomatoes and onions).

not as good as expected

The seafood was good but not exceptional. Ceviche just acceptable, congrio excellent, "crabcake decent". Good desserts, nice choice of beers, wines are good but short list. Service just correct, rooms "dated".

Azul Profundo Review

I ate at the Azul Profundo two years ago and found the fish excellent, the decor interesting, and service good. It was a little overpriced for Chile, but a good piece of fish is worth extra dollars. On my present trip, however, I was disppointed twice by the quality of the food. The decor is still nice, the service friendly, and the prices inched up a bit, BUT what comes in the plate is inferior and overcooked fish. The first time, they served

me an Easter Island Tuna which was smelling so bad the waiter chose to return it to the kitchen before I even had a bite. On my second visit, the albacore (that is the name for swordfish in Chile) was overcooked and tasteless. So what good is an expensive fish restaurant serving inedible fish? Hope they will improve and go back to their earlier good standards before they destroy their reputation.

Good but not great

Although the atmosphere and wine selection were both very good, we were disappointed with the food. In our party of three, each fish dish was very overcooked, which was a HUGE disappointment. On the flip side, they make an excellent pisco sour. In my opinion, there are better places in Bellavista for the money.

Best value in town.

Great atmosphere, decorated with wood and WINE!. You must try all the seafood in the menu: angulas, machas, loco, etc... Every fish dish is great, and the desserts are simple but delicious. Don't miss the opportunity of try a good wine with your dinner.
