Why We Like It

This tiny hotel is unique in Santiago for its airy interior, cozy service, ecological approach and delicious breakfasts. It feels like you are right at home, and that's just how the owners want it. Rent out the entire hotel for family reunions or weddings, or feel right at home traveling alone or as part of a couple or small group. It is unusually well-located to three day-and-night hotspots, Bellavista, Lastarria and Barrio Italia.

Fodor's Expert Review

In a serene house on a quiet street, this eco-friendly hotel (really a B&B) does what it can to minimize its impact. The hotel has blonde wood furniture and floors and is airy, evoking a country house in southern Chile The rooms are simple, bright, and tidy, and breakfast is a huge hit, with jams made of local fruits, fresh-baked cakes, organic juice, free-range eggs, and other products from small producers that the hotel works with. There is a cozy shared living room and lovely outdoor garden with fruit trees and grape arbor, where guests are free to have breakfast on warmer days. All of their cleaning products are organic and biodegradable, rainwater is collected for plants, and on-grid electricity and heat are supplemented by solar. The hotel is very unassuming, though you can find it by the vertical garden on the wall outside, if you miss the sign.

Bathroom

Tidy and clean, with an eco-focus, with low-flow toilets and showers, not bathtubs. Nice chromed fixtures with details like seashells and vases with raffia or other decorative straw.

Tip Hot water is generated with an on-site solar system, so you can relax into your shower knowing it's got a small carbon footprint.

Built like a living room, which the hotel staff hopes you will treat it as. comfortable furniture on a wooden floor, nearby bookshelves, perfect for enjoying time with fellow travelers. In warmer months, the outdoor patio is a great place to hang out as well.

This hotel is well situated just a few blocks from Baquedano, one of the main metro stops on the red line (Linea 1). After hours guests prefer to take an Uber/Cabify or taxi, though many points of interest are accessible on foot or by metro.

Restaurants

Lastarria (19-minute walk, 6-minute drive) is a main restaurant row in Santiago, and we recommend Bocanáriz (18-minute walk, 7-minute drive) for a tasting menu with food pairings. Also close by is Chipe Libre, (18-minute walk, 7-minute drive) which is a Pisco bar with food from the north of Chile and south of Peru. Further north, head to Bellavista (16-minute walk, 5-minute drive) for many different food options, including ancestral food at Peumayén, (18-minute walk, 7-minute drive) or Galindo (17-minute walk, 7-minute drive) for traditional Chilean food, or Ciudad Vieja (17-minute walk, 7-minute drive) for new takes on Chilean favorite sandwiches and a good beer selection. Or head to Barrio Italia (11-minute walk) to wander and find something on your own there.

Bars

Fairly close to the hotel are Ruca Bar, (7-minute walk) which serves inexpensive mixed drink in a fun atmosphere, and the beer garden style Mossto Beergarden (14-minute walk) , both in Barrio Italia (11-minute walk). For a classic Chilean experience, have a drink at the bar at the original location of Liguria (6-minute drive), or head down to Bellavista (16-minute walk) to try out the innovative mixed drinks in fun presentations at Siete Negronis (20-minute walk, 7-minute drive. Or try the tiny, (aptly-named) Hidden Bar (10-minute walk) for late-breaking mixology in the basement bar of Hotel Nippon.
